QTea High Tea by QT Sydney offers an exquisite and thoughtfully curated high tea experience in the heart of Sydney’s vibrant CBD. Nestled on Level 2 of QT Sydney at 49 Market Street, this restaurant beautifully marries modern tea culture with an innovative culinary flair that promises to delight every guest.
The menu at QTea High Tea is a celebration of both sweet and savoury creations, each crafted to showcase layers of texture and bursts of flavor. Sweet lovers will be enchanted by delights like the CHOCOLATE STAX, a decadent chocolate celebration featuring six irresistible textures of rich cacao, or the luscious BANOFFEE PIE VERRINE, where the marriage of banana, caramel, lemon, chocolate, and pecans creates a symphony of creamy, tangy, and crunchy sensations. For a refreshing tropical twist, the MAN GOES COCO transports you to summer days with mango, passionfruit, and coconut served on a buttery shortbread. Not to be missed are the delicate ZUMBARONS offering a selection of bright, colorful flavors, and the signature SCONEZ — a modern take on the classic scone, paired with cherry jam and clotted cream for an indulgent finish.
The savoury selection is equally captivating, featuring dishes like the CHICKEN KATSU SANDO — white bread layered with crispy katsu chicken, fresh cabbage, cucumber, and Japanese mayo, accented by green tea tonkatsu sauce. The FARRO SALAD, vibrant and fresh with olives, sun-dried tomatoes, feta, and herbs, offers a healthy yet satisfying counterpoint. The PRAWN TOAST dazzles with its crispy texture enhanced by a bold harissa mayo and pomegranate sumac reduction, exemplifying the kitchen’s flair for bold flavors and elegant presentation.
Complementing these dishes, QTea reveals its dedication to tea connoisseurs with a roster of exclusive loose leaf teas. Their signature BURNT BLUEBERRY brew is a house blend available only here, inviting guests into a uniquely fruity and smoky tea experience. Traditional lovers can enjoy a robust ENGLISH BREAKFAST or the warm Assamese notes of the EAST FRISIAN (TGBOP). For a refreshing twist, the BOHEMIAN BLUE — a lemon and ginger infusion — enlivens the palate, while the GENMAICHA provides a nutty finish.
The atmosphere at QTea High Tea is described by patrons as vibrant and stylish, set within QT Sydney’s eclectic and artfully designed hotel precinct. While some have noted that the tea is held in the bustling hotel reception area, which lends an exciting backdrop for people-watching, the space is furnished with comfortable, contemporary chairs that promote a relaxed yet chic dining experience. The overall vibe teeters perfectly between casual sophistication and lively conviviality, making it a memorable place to gather with friends for celebrations or an elegant afternoon indulgence.
What truly shines at QTea, beyond the innovative menu and atmospheric setting, is the exceptional service. Reviewers praise the warm hospitality extended by staff members like Diego and Gregory, who ensure that every guest feels welcomed and well-cared for. The team’s commitment to accommodating dietary preferences — including vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options — highlights their attention to inclusivity and detail, making the experience personalized and thoughtful for all guests.
Customers frequently highlight how the sweetness of the cakes and slices stole the show, with a dazzling array of flavors and textures that excite the senses and linger fondly in memory. The savoury dishes, while sometimes understated compared to the sweets, consistently receive compliments for their fresh, balanced flavors and inventive combinations.

We went to QT High Tea as part of my bachelorette celebration activities and we absolutely adored it! The atmosphere was incredible and the food was so tasty as well as unique. The rest of my group kept saying "we have to do high tea here all the time now!". They also catered to multiple dietary options and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Safe to say we'll be back again!

Food and tea were delicious and plentiful. The high tea takes place in the hotel reception area, which is a bit of a thoroughfare. Great for people watching but not a fancy or quiet ambience most suited for high tea. Chairs are comfy and stylish but too low - so had to lean forward to eat and speak with my friends.

Loved every bit! A thoughtfully curated high tea experience from the presentation to the atmosphere to the service. Although the savoury pieces were delicious, the sweets were the highlight for me. So many flavours, textures and layers.

Not the most obvious place to find. The building has a restaurant next to the entrance and elevators and we initially took that for QTea. Luckily my daughter noticed that we needed to go to the third level, which involved an elevator trip and stairs. I suspect a couple of the bad reviews come from this confusion. Hmmmmm.... QTea can take about 6 or 7 small groups at once. This probably accounts for the $100 a head high tea. It's an intimate, elegantly attired place, low lighting adding to the ambience. As any of my followers know, I assign stars by an expectations vs reality algorithm. I personally found the service and the atmosphere deserving of 5 stars. The waitresses were brilliant. The food... well, on one hand I tasted the best salted-caramel macaron that I have ever experienced and the pulled beef roll was to die for. On the other hand, a couple of the flavour combinations of the other pieces did not work for me. Perhaps my tastes are too plebeian (I have been told that in the past and accept it) but no, I did not like them. Overall I did not feel the food met the price. This said, the four of us really enjoyed ourselves and the experience was generally worth the price.

Visited this place to have high tea with my friends and we absolutely loved it. The service from Diego and Gregory were amazing and we felt so welcomed and cared for the whole time. My friend also had her own plant based gluten free menu so she didn’t feel left out the whole time, and she enjoyed it. I highly recommend coming here to have a great time, the menu selection was delicious and we loved every tea selection. 5/5 !

My fiancé and I had the most beautiful experience at QT. We had the vegan high tea menu, which was sublime. So nice to be so well catered for as vegans, with a stunningly curated menu. Additionally, the staff were warm and friendly, which helped to celebrate our engagement. I would dine here again in a heartbeat!

Celebrated my birthday with a GFDF high tea with four friends. Everything was delicious!! Mouthwatering, with flavours perfectly balanced!! I think my favourite was the GF scone-inspired slice with DF cream and berry reduction. Even better than scones with jam and cream!! All the menu items were incredible, and Shani’s order selection was pretty spot on. A decadent array of teas to choose from, beautifully served in fun teapots. Perfect amount of food. The only improvement would be softer music, perhaps instrumental? We felt like we had to talk over it at times. Otherwise everything was excellent. Shani was a lovely host. So knowledgeable about the menu and enthusiastic about her role- she was bubbly and effervescent, it was wonderful to see!
